I haven’t wrote for ages, because I’ve been pretty ill… but I’m feeling a bit better now, so I thought I’d try to fill you in on what’s been happening. During the last couple of months there have been a few things going on in my life… 1. hypnotherapy –   I  had 3 sessions … Read more

Graded Motor Imagery

I found this video on www.noigroup.com;  Neuro Orthopaedic Institute (NOI) Australasia. A useful website on neuroscientific research, that my physiotherapist told me about, as part of my treatment.  The exercises on Laterality training, Graded Motor Imagery and Mirror therapy.. all relevant for CRPS treatment.. with the brain as it’s main focus. This video covers all of these … Read more

Ketamine come down/ bladder operation.

I’ve been coming down off Ketamine for about 2 months now..and I’ve still got another 2 months to go. It’s been  horrible, frustrating, stressful, painful and I’ve felt like crap the whole time, but at least I’m getting off the stuff! The day my Pain Specialist told me to come off Ketamine he said there’s a big … Read more

Neuroscience, meditation & creativity

I’ve been reading a lot recently on neuroscience, meditation & creativity. I’m really interested in neuroscience, in particular nerves, pain and CRPS. I’ve also been given advise from my physio, who works specifically with people with neuropathic pain, about CRPS and brain exercises I can do. Neuropathic pain is caused by a problem with one … Read more

‘Stupid things some people say’..

I would like to write about ‘mobility and independence’, because they are both important things that people with disabilities may have problems with. I don’t call myself disabled- probably because my neuropathic pain was brought on by a snowboarding injury, and surgery on my knee, so I call myself ‘injured’ still. Of course I can … Read more

I hate to moan, but…

Hate to moan but….I thought I’d write an update on coming down off the Ketamine.  It’s a nightmare!  I’ve been feeling so ill; light-headed, nauseous, exhausted and generally feeling crap! I’m not sure wether  it’s just because of Ketamine withdrawal, because I get the same feeling every morning and evening  just before I take my other medications, but … Read more

Ketamine hell

Some bad news this week. I spoke to my Pain Specialist, and he’s told me to come off the Ketamine because he’s worried it could be causing long term, IRREVERSIBLE bladder inflammation and damage!! Cheers Dr Platt, couldn’t have found out that information before prescribing it to me!?    Since starting the Ketamine alongside the Oxynorm pills, … Read more

Indy

So, I’ve been extremely busy since my last post!  I got my gorgeous little westie puppy, ‘Indy’, and I’m soooo happy!  It has been a proper struggle the first few weeks though, what with my mum being away on holiday as well.   The first few weeks felt like actual torture, in terms of my knee, not … Read more

Pets as Therapy

Not strictly on the CRPS topic.. but I wanted to share with you my excitement of recently getting a little furry friend. He chews, eats a lot and is hyperactive, yes, he’s a puppy!   I’ve been seriously down lately with the situation with my knee looking increasingly hopeless, so I am extremely happy to introduce my little … Read more

Physiotherapy

Hello, I realised I haven’t written for a few months.. so here’s a quick update.. Medications: I am still taking the Ketamine medicine, and so far I have been feeling a good effect from it. It definately doesn’t take the pain away, but it takes the edge off it a bit.  My pain specialist has been progressively upping … Read more
